Selfless Love

We believe there is a God. A loving Father in Heaven who created us as individual intelligent spirits.

Heaven, our true home, is filled with God's love. This infinite love is the power that connects Him to all His creations, big or small, near or far. And being a perfect loving parent, God wants His children to grow and learn right from wrong. To progress beyond innocent blissful ignorance of eternal youth. To develop the wisdom of good vs evil.

So God, through Jehovah, created an earthly classroom of free will. Lucifer was cast out of Heaven to challenge the children of God. Jehovah was chosen to be the Savior of all mankind and the Only Begotten Jesus Christ. The greatest story ever told.

He taught, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). Jesus didn’t just speak these words- He lived them. Out of perfect selfless love, He willingly gave His life and suffered for our sins, taking on Himself all our pain and sorrow to satisfy the demands of justice and advocate mercy.

When Jesus commands us to love one another, He calls for putting others' needs above our own, regardless of how we feel in the moment. Assisting those who can't repay us shows selfless love in its purest form. Jesus emphasized this principle throughout His ministry, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and teaching all who would listen. The Good Samaritan is a great example of selfless love, helping a stranger from a different cultural background without expecting reward.

Parents sacrifice sleep, comfort, resources, and personal dreams for their children's well-being. This loving relationship helps us glimpse a fraction of God's selfless love toward us. Just as parents delight in their children's growth and happiness, our Heavenly Father rejoices when we grow in love and service to others.

By loving others selflessly, we follow Jesus Christ and begin to understand Him and Heavenly Father better. This alignment, along with prayer, helps us develop our personal testimony and remember our divine heritage as children of God. When we become aware of God's loving hand in our lives, often through the selfless service of others, mighty transformation begins in our hearts. We start to see others as God sees them.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Love is when the other person's happiness is more important than your own.
